Rana Daggubati forays into Bollywood


After tasting success with his debut film 'Leader' directed by talented Shekhar Kammula, Rana Daggubati is all set to foray into Bollywood. Rasma Naidu's grandson is all set to play a lead character in Rohan Sippy's 'Dum Maro Dum' which is due to release early 2011. Ran Daggubati will be sharing screen space with none other than Abhishek Bachan and Prateik Babbar, son of Raj Babbar and Smita Patil. Bipasha Basu and Kangana Ranaut are the leading ladies in the movie, while Aditya Pancholi will be playing a negative role in the film.

Dum Maro Dum is extensively shot in Goa and the story line is based on drugs trafficking and drug abuse among youth of India. The movie is being considered as the modern version of 1971 super hit film 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna' of Dev Anand and Zeenat Aman, which created history with the song 'Dum Maro Dum' featured on Zeenat Aman. Kangana Ranaut is expected to do Zeenat Aman's role in the modern day version of the movie.

After initial resistance, ever green star Dev Anand saab finally gave the rights of the movie owned by him to Rohan Sippy who is the son of his old friend Ramesh Sippy. But, the a major point of discussion among people of the Hindi film industry is that whether Rohan Sippy be able to do justice to this legendary movie in its modern avatar. Only time can give us the answer to this question.

Ever since announced, the movie has been a high point of speculation and discussion among people associated with the film industry. According to sources, top actresses like Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone before freezing on Bipasha Basu and Kangana Ranaut for the two key roles in the film. While, Bipasha Basu will play the lead lady opposite Rana Daggubati, Kangana is expected to play his sister who is a drug and around whom the movie entirely revolves.

With such top people involved in the project and with speculations being made, the movie is a point of discussion even without any promotion or publicity. Fans are eagerly waiting for the release of this film which will set a different tone in the Indian film industry.
